About Bluewater Yoga Studio

Bluewater Yoga Studio

Founded in 1996, our studio has been dedicated to imparting the wisdom of Yoga and Vedic chanting to the community of Red Wing, SE Minnesota, and across the river in Wisconsin. Bluewater Yoga Studio’s journey began with a vision to create a space where the ancient traditions of Yoga and Vedic chanting could be honored and shared. Carolyn, a seasoned Yoga teacher and therapist (E-RYT 500, YACEP, C-IAYT), envisioned a place where individuals could embark on a transformative journey toward physical strength, mental clarity, and spiritual fulfillment.

Located in the Heart of Red Wing

Red Wing is a small, scenic community on the banks of the Mississippi River in Southeast Minnesota. Home to Red Wing Shoes and Red Wing Pottery, Red Wing is known to people across the United States, is cherished by its residents, and is a popular destination for tourists. Easily accessible by Interstate highways and Amtrak, one can also arrive by riverboat or by small aircraft to Red Wing’s airport.

Our Sacred Space

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Red Wing at 323 Main Street, Bluewater Yoga Studio is a sanctuary of tranquility and charm. The studio’s physical space is lovingly designed to embody the essence of Yoga—peaceful, simple, and spacious – reflecting a commitment to providing an environment that enhances your practice and calms your mind. It’s a place where every breath deepens your peace, each movement is a gesture of grace, and where the entire atmosphere supports the journey toward inner stillness.

Bluewater Teachers

Carolyn Hedin is the founder of Bluewater Yoga Studio, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and an ocean of experience in Yoga and Vedic Chanting. Since embarking on her Yoga journey in 1986, Carolyn’s path has been one of deep learning and passionate teaching. Her training commenced with International Yoga Studies in 1997, introducing her to the profound teachings and esteemed tradition of Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar. Carolyn’s dedication to her practice and her students is evident in her extensive education. She holds a certificate from the American Viniyoga Institute, which she earned in 2001 after completing a 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program with Gary Kraftsow. Her quest for knowledge didn’t stop there; she continued to study Yoga and Yoga Therapy under the tutelage of Kausthub Desikachar and TKV Desikachar, spanning continents from the U.S. to India.
Her understanding of Vedic Chanting was nurtured under Radha Sundararajan and further refined with Simone Moors, fostering a deep connection with the ancient tradition. Carolyn’s expertise is recognized with certifications from the Krishnamacharya Healing & Yoga Foundation and the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Registered as an E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance, she continues to share her wisdom, teaching in the tradition she holds dear, and regularly convening with her European Sanga of Yoga and Vedic Chant Teachers.

Carolyn especially enjoys teaching The Yoga Sutra-s of Patañjali and The Bhagavad Gita to share the perennial wisdom and guidance that they offer everyone who wants to understand the human potential in all of life’s experiences.
RYT 200
Rachelle’s curiosity about yoga led her to Bluewater Yoga Studio in 2012. Since then, her growing interest and enthusiasm for learning more about the transformative nature of yoga both on and off the mat has blossomed. She completed her 200-hour teacher training certification with Carolyn Hedin at Bluewater in 2020 and is registered with Yoga Alliance. She currently studies Vedic Chanting at Bluewater and participates in monthly chanting sanga-s with chanters from around the world as well as studying Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtra-s with Andy Curtis-Payne through The Society of Yoga Practitioners (TSYP) in the United Kingdom. She appreciates the balance and presence that yoga brings in joining the mind, body, breath, and spirit in one’s busy life and wishes to share that connection with others.
